Willows Hugh O Smith Books
I really enjoyed this sad, human and often touching tale of betrayal and revenge. It had a 'perils of Pauline' quality to it, yet was human and plausible. There was carnage, both mental and physical, tempered by a small sense of justice. Yet so much requiring closure.... A sequel to come?Product details

Willows Hugh O Smith Books Reviews
This book is amazing! It has everything you look for. Love, sex, betrayal, violence, and the unexpected. There were so many twists and turns. I gasped half a dozen times. So good.
It's a very intriguing read
This was a great book; I really enjoyed it. Can't wait for more from this author. Minor typos AND..at chapter 24 during my "version" his best friend Daria became his best friend Gina O__o What happened?
I will still recommend this book to others.
I just re-read this book a second time and it was just as good the second time around. Great job Mr. Smith, I can't wait to ready Candyland.
This book reminds me of the slippery slope befallen to those people who are unable to "trust another human being at all." The street mentality of "I'll get you back so help me God, and the un-golden rule "an eye for an eye, and a tooth for a tooth" made me feel a little sad for the characters in the book. Overall the book keep my interest, and reminded me of some of the students I've taught over the years. If only someone showed them how to manage their emotions, told them they were worthy to be loved, and provided a safe, happy, nonviolent childhood - maybe they wouldn't grow up to be so angry and vengeful as adults. Sometimes it's difficult to imagine how "life" can be completely different through another person's eyes, but when you factor in their life experiences it's quite easy to understand. One thing about this book that I really appreciated was that Harmon gave a raw, gritty, unfiltered view of lies, betrayal, and mistrust that can arise in any couple relationship lacking compassion, trust, communication, and unconditional love. The ending was a bit anticlimactic, but it left room for a part two. I would recommend this book to my family and friends.
I am familiar with this writer's style and his ability to display and project emotion outward with surgical precision, always reaching the target who is viscerally reacting to the words on the page. With each new revelation in this story, the confusion, despair and often utter devastation are palpable emotions as the reader is dragged along on the journey. The unique perspective of a relationship gone horridly awry by using a male main character and voice, do seem to provide an extra 'oomph' to a strongly emotional tale of a family in dissolution.
The tale unfolds in a series of flashbacks and remembered conversations and erotic encounters. Marcus is searching for new footing and a new perspective as he dissects the relationship looking for the ever elusive "missed clues". His process of allowing despair and bitterness to effect memory of each conversation and moment is one that is familiar to any reader who has lost a love, or lost the rose-tinted vision of the dream for a future with the one they love. That makes this a story that is uniquely universal and touching, with events detailed in such a way as to provide a guidebook of what one can experience in the situation, and will resonate with readers as they seek to despise Tami or cheer for Marcus.
A story that will make you laugh, cry, despair, hope and cheer, Willows has transcended its suburban New York setting to provide a glimpse of life behind closed doors that could be happening anywhere in the world, with all sorts of combinations of couples. Personally I am very excited to see more of Marcus on his search for a new version of his dream.
I purchased a copy of Willows for my own library. I was not compensated for this review, and all conclusions are my own responsibilty.
This was a wild tale of a man losing his woman to someone else right before marriage. The kicker is who he lost her too. I liked the back handed way he got his revenge and the "other man" got what her deserved. Good story line. Starts out slow but is worth the read.
I would recommend this book.
I really enjoyed this sad, human and often touching tale of betrayal and revenge. It had a 'perils of Pauline' quality to it, yet was human and plausible. There was carnage, both mental and physical, tempered by a small sense of justice. Yet so much requiring closure.... A sequel to come?
