If you can't stand the heat...
When New York City unveils a program to roast supernaturals, I wonder if I should be sweating.
The bloodthirsty Arnaud thinks so, and he’s insisting that our survival depends on a wizard-vampire alliance. Never mind his history of wanting me dead. Or undead.
Meanwhile, the mayor wants me on his team—an offer that’s only slightly less unnerving given our recent clash. So who’s really behind the purge? City Hall? The werewolves? Or is it the brainchild of the fae, whose newest advisor to the mayor slipped from my bed and life four months ago?
I’m getting the cold feeling someone’s trying to manipulate the program, and me, to set off a larger war, one that could explode through the city.
One thing’s for sure. If I don’t get my head straight and my magic on, it’s going to be a hell of a summer.

Purge City Prof Croft Book 3 edition by Brad Magnarella Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks
What a thrill ride! This is the kind of fast-paced, magic packed urban fantasy that I love best. Everson is scrambling to stay ahead of the monsters, press, and backstabbers this time. Just when you think you know what someone's agenda is a plot twist catches you totally by surprise. There are tons of unholy alliances going on and Everson seems to have no port in this epic storm. But, as we've seen before, he is incredibly resourceful, determined, and powerful. I loved how the story wasn't just the magic and the action but also took a little space for the Everson's complicated relationships with Caroline and Detective Vega. I also loved that there are several mysteries running in parallel and how some turn out to be interrelated. As the book was careening to a close, Magnarella had me wondering how it could all possibly work out. Needless to say there were constant reversals and dashed hopes before Everson emerges, battered and wiser, at the end. I was very pleased to have a few intriguing things introduced as mysteries and teasers for the next book. I am so looking forward to that one! For Everson the plot is always thickening.... A great read and sure to be a reread!Product details

Purge City Prof Croft Book 3 edition by Brad Magnarella Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
I have enjoyed all three of these books. I found them because the first was available for free on Prime Reading, and read/listened to that one and the other two before the week was out. I was enjoying the reading enough to buy the audio so that I could listen while I did some long, training walks. The story definitely keeps you guessing, and the characters are fun. I'll definitely keep reading!
A great addition to a fun series. Some angst for those who like that stuff.
Mostly this is a comment on since there is no way to contact them with suggestions or issues with their site.
When I select the "BOOK" department, I want to see BOOKs, not or Audio editions, BOOKs. Why am I constantly directed to s when try to see hardcopy BOOKS? This is my primary issue with the site. It's a PITA!
Another entertaining Prof Croft read! This time, our hero, Professor Croft is in the middle of a war the implications of which he doesn't quite understand. Being a pawn is no fun! Lots of drama & action throughout! Caroline is back. So, too, is Detective Vega. I was glad to see that relationship continue. The author drops a real bombshell at the end of the book. Now, I can't wait for the next book in this series!
Just finished listening to the book via the Audio version. Prof Croft goes from being an anonymous wizard. Then the mayor calls. Asks him to do him a favor. Need help eradicating monsters in the city. Well what does he do? He does it on the count that the mayor doesn't spill the beans... But what does a good politician do? Lets the City know about Crofts ability. So this is good and bad. He gets way more students (mostly females), and things seem to be going good. Investigates his mother's murder... Needs to learn on who killed her and why...
And of course we have the Werewolves and the vampires... But who's side are they on? Who's side is Croft on?
action-adventure, mage, magic, shifters, werewolves, faerie, snarky, law-enforcement, nyc
Non-stop action in NYC with a deviously twisty plot characterized by a really snarky good guy with a lot of personal problems. Get into the world of NYC politics where the dopey mayor is married to a werewolf and plans a law enforcement campaign to eliminate all of the scary non humans and get a ton of publicity in hopes of winning the next election. What a mess! There are several subplots, surprising twists, and it all adds up to an excellent read!
Full disclosure I received an advance copy of the manuscript prior to publication.
Once again, it's fun to see a male magic user in the starring role, especially one who can hold his own against most comers (anyone who's played a mage in D&D will understand). Plenty of action, enough romantic interest to hold attention, and political intrigue that's perhaps just a bit too close to home. Really love seeing an egghead academic using his wits when magic fails or isn't enough. A main character with limits is a refreshing change in this genre, and one that's handled extremely well.
Poor Everson is really in for it this time around. Caroline is married, turning more and more fae, and Everson feels nothing but anger at her for her abrupt departure after their one night together. She comes to him to warn him of bad things coming and offers her help, but Everson is too heartbroken and stubborn to listen. The mayor is creating a program to eradicate dangerous supernaturals and wants Everson on his team... outing him to the world in the process. And Arnaud wants to reestablish the pact Everson's grandfather broke years ago. What is Everson to do? All this while Everson is investigating his mother's murder, putting him in further danger.
Betrayals abound, poor Everson is fighting for his life with little to help him.
I liked how everything was resolved, and cannot wait for the next book to see how the adventure continues.
