Assassin Katla reinvents a forensic landmark while creating a Locked Room mystery...
The Locked Room KillFile (7,800 words) follows freelance assassin Katla Sieltjes executing a contract on a physician responsible for the death of her client’s wife. Using an updated version of a lethal puzzle that astounded forensic scientists at the end of the twentieth century, Katla recreates a diabolical killing method that became a landmark in the forensic sciences. Thwarting forensic scientists is not her only hurdle in fulfilling her contract, as her target has to be killed in his home, an opulent penthouse in a fortress-like apartment building…The Katla KillFile short stories chronologically precede the novels in the Amsterdam Assassin Series.
Each KillFile features Katla Sieltjes, expert in disguising homicide, executing one of her contracts. While not mandatory reading, each KillFile provides insight both in Katla’s work methods and skill, and additional background information in her character and personal history. The Katla KillFile short stories chronologically precede the novels in the Amsterdam Assassin Series. This was a really quick read. I read it during an appointment. The character was interesting. The scene descriptions added dimension to the story. The book was kind of like watching a half hour series on television. Half way through there's a long commercial break except in this instance the book ended at the commercial. Half the book was the story and the other half was a summary of the author's other books. It's a one scene book. Still it was interesting. I gave it 3 stars on Godreads because that's the I like it equivalent and on Amazon I like it is 4 stars.Product details

Locked Room A Katla KillFile Amsterdam Assassin Series edition by Martyn V Halm Farah Evers Mystery Thriller Suspense eBooks Reviews
I found this piece thoroughly enjoyable, even though it falls into a genre I don't read much of (crime/thriller). This is a short story, so it's hard to talk about what I liked about it without giving too much away. I'll just say that the attention to detail is fantastic (I like learning about how things work) and that this story stimulates the same pleasure center in your brain that a good heist story tickles.
Courage, everything turns on courage. Very good! Reading this after what happened in Paris makes truth stranger than fiction. May we all acquire the courage as this brother depicted here does. Vie la Francais!
A nicely crafted short story, well told, with astonishing attention to detail.the author knows how to write without the tedious explication of plot and background we find with lesser writers. Yet the details don't intrude and there is no sense we are being written down to as though we were an uniformed audience.
These stories are a find for anyone seeking entertainment while alone on a dreary winter's evening.
Katla is contracted to kill a doctor by an abridged husband. The husband's wife died because of negligence while in the doctor's care. Katla plans to make it look like suicide.
I took a look at this book because it was listed as free. It's a real short read, but it packs a punch. The story tells of one of Katla's early assassinations, this one against a doctor that did somebody wrong. I don't want to give anything away, but the killing is described in great detail. I'd think the author had done this before, that's how well it was described.
This is a real quick read and serves as a free intro to the Amsterdam Assassins Series. I'm very tempted to by the next installment after reading this!
A doctor needs killing. He caused a death of a patient for the wrong reasons... and didn't really care. But, how to do it so no one knows it is a murder? The assassin knows how. We follow her as she builds the perfect murder! The only disappointment... the story is over too soon. I was left wanting more.
It's a short story, pretty brutal and as there is so little detail prior to the assassination it simply reeks of torture. Not possible to feel for characters in any way it reads more like a technical manual
